Minecraft plugin analytics tools, compared

Which tool fits depends on the question. Counting servers, understanding how your plugin is used, or finding lag on one server are three different jobs.

For plugin developers

bStats is the long-standing default for a public server count. FastStats and PluginAnalytics are the newer, private options: FastStats spans more platforms (including mods and Hytale), PluginAnalytics goes deeper into product questions for Bukkit-based plugins (funnels, performance, listing conversion, update notices and in-game reports). Side by side: PluginAnalytics vs bStats and PluginAnalytics vs FastStats.

For server owners

Plan analyses a server's own players, and spark profiles a server to find what lags. They're installed by the server owner and answer questions about that one server, not about a plugin across thousands of servers. Plugin developers often use spark while debugging, next to an analytics tool: see PluginAnalytics vs spark.

How to choose

  • Just need a public number? bStats.
  • Need to know what's used, what breaks and what converts, for a Spigot or Paper plugin? PluginAnalytics.
  • Ship a Fabric mod, a Velocity plugin or a Hytale mod? FastStats or bStats.
  • Run a server and want to understand its players or its lag? Plan and spark.
