Feedback

Ask server admins how your plugin works for them, with a one-minute form, or wire feedback to a command of yours. Everything lands in one inbox.

The prompt

Turn on the prompt in Feedback. Servers that have run your plugin long enough get your question, with a link to a short form, in the console and in chat for admins when they join (the same people who see update notices).

SettingOptions
QuestionUp to 200 characters; {plugin} is replaced with the name. The link is added after it.
First ask afterRight away, or 1, 3 (default), 7, 14 or 30 days after the server installed your plugin.
Ask again every14, 30, 60 (default), 90, 180 or 365 days. A server that sent feedback in that period isn't asked.

Only the plugin's owner can change these settings.

The form

The link opens a page with a 1 to 5 rating and a comment of up to 2,000 characters. No account is needed. Each link is tied to its server and stays valid for 14 days. The feedback arrives with the plugin version and platform of that server, and nothing that identifies the person or the server.

From your own command

Prefer a command? Send feedback with one line. It runs in the background and tells the sender whether it was sent.

// /arena feedback <1-5> [message]
if (args.length >= 2 && args[0].equalsIgnoreCase("feedback")) {
    int rating;
    try {
        rating = Integer.parseInt(args[1]);
    } catch (NumberFormatException e) {
        rating = 0; // no rating
    }
    String message = String.join(" ", Arrays.copyOfRange(args, 2, args.length));
    analytics.feedback(sender, rating, message);
    return true;
}
  • The rating is 1 to 5, or 0 for none. A message without a rating is fine; with neither, nothing is stored and the sender is told it couldn't be sent.
  • Messages are cut at 2,000 characters, and names, IPs and UUIDs are replaced.
  • Up to 10 messages per server per day.
  • If the server owner turned analytics off, the sender is told feedback is turned off on this server.

The inbox

The Feedback page shows the average rating, ratings by stars and by version, and every message with its rating, version and source (form or command). Archive messages you've handled; new ones show up in your notifications.

Your own command keeps working.
