Reports & ideas
Players and admins tell you about problems and ideas from the game. Each report arrives with what your plugin was doing just before it.
The commands
Every server running your plugin gets two subcommands, with no code from you:
/arenaplus report The arena doesn't reset after a game
/arenaplus suggest Add a spectator mode
- The command is your plugin's name in lowercase, letters and digits only (
ArenaPlus→/arenaplus). - If your plugin already has a command with that name or alias,
reportandsuggestare added to it, and to its tab completion. If not, the command is created. - Subcommands your plugin already has are never replaced: if your command's tab completion offers
report, yours keeps working. - If another plugin already uses that name, they're added to your plugin's first command instead.
- Anyone can use them. Each person can send one every minute, and each server up to 20 a day.
Use your own command
Put them on one of your commands instead, for example /arena report:
analytics.commandBase("arena");
From your own code
Prefer your own commands, messages or GUI? Turn the automatic subcommands off and call the methods yourself:
analytics.autoCommands(false);
// /arena bug <what happened>
analytics.report(sender, String.join(" ", Arrays.copyOfRange(args, 1, args.length)));
// /arena idea <your idea>
analytics.suggest(sender, String.join(" ", Arrays.copyOfRange(args, 1, args.length)));
Both run in the background and tell the sender whether it was sent. Messages are cut at 1,000 characters, and player names, IPs and UUIDs are replaced.
What comes with a report
A problem report carries your plugin's own errors and log lines from that server in the 15 minutes before it: up to 20 errors and 40 log lines, already without names, IPs or UUIDs. In the dashboard each error links to its issue in Errors, with how long before the report it happened, and the log lines open below it. Errors that hadn't been sent yet travel with the report, so they appear in Errors at once instead of with the next hourly report (and are counted once). Suggestions carry only the message.
Who sent it is shown as player, admin (an operator) or console, never by name: players are the same anonymous hash used for funnels.
In the dashboard
The Reports page has Bugs and Ideas, open and done. Mark bugs as fixed and ideas as done, or archive them. New ones show up in your notifications. Any member of the plugin's team can triage them.
